In November 2014 the build is as follows. East Coast sets will be delivered 2018 and Greater Western 2017.
Three pre-production train sets are being built at the Hitachi Kasado Works in Judamatsu City, Japan - consisting of two 5-car bi mode and one 9-car electric set. Including the pre-production sets a total of 12 full trains will be assembled and tested in Japan, the remaining 110 sets will be delivered to the UK as body shells and fitted out in the Hitachi factory in Newton Aycliffe.
East Coast
12 x 5-car electric = 60 vehicles
10 x 5-car bi-mode = 50 vehicles
30 x 9-car electric = 270 vehicles
13 x 9-car bi-mode = 117 vehicles
Greater Western
21 x 9-car electric = 189 vehicles
36 x 5-car bi-mode = 180 vehicles
